Andre's Street Photography has added a photo to the pool:
It was apparent to most observers that the Laquan McDonald shooting back in October of 2014, would be a game-changer, long before the dash-cam video was released to the public in December of 2015. Whatever may have motivated Chicago Police Officer Jason Van Dyke to pull the trigger even once, let alone sixteen times, will have to be revealed during his trial, but that may not take place for another three or four years. What we are left with in the meantime are a myriad of questions, accusations, demonstrations, political damage-control by some, and political posturing by others who hope to take advantage of the situation.
The political movement to demonize all Chicago Police Officers has been trudging along for years now. This movement has been dominated by a small cadre of ultra left-wing activists who view the police as the enforcement apparatus of an oppressive government, which in turn caters to the needs and demands of billionaires and global corporations.
In their Marxist world view, African Americans take on the role of the traditional European proletariat, engaged in a class struggle that has been infused with one additional, highly combustible ingredient: race....
Needless to say, the police are cast to play the role of the villains in this drama: oppressors whose job it is to keep African Americans in their place by any means necessary.
According to this screenplay, it is imperative that the players on their team are always innocent and as pure as driven snow, while the cops are always motivated by racial hatred. In this narrative, it is the movement's contention that whenever a Chicago Police Officer fires his weapon at any African American, he does so first and foremost because he is a rabid White Racist who will seize any opportunity to execute unarmed African American young men.
According to them, whenever any White Police Officer fires his weapon at any African American, that African American is always unarmed, and is always attempting to surrender peacefully, offering no resistance whatsoever.
In cases when the evidence clearly shows that the African American offender was indeed armed with a firearm, then the narrative shifts to plan B: the White Racist Police Officer waited until the African American "victim" laid down his gun, and that's when the cop shot him down: while he was totally defenseless...
For years, this nonsense had been treated as such Even as the anti-police movement was gaining momentum nationally, in the wake of hi-profile cases of alleged police misconduct in Ferguson, NYC and Baltimore, all was still relatively quiet in Chicago.

Since I do not have any hi-capacity 9mm pistols lying around, this image of my trusty old six-shooter will have to suffice.
