Located just north of the Wilson Ave station, about 4700 North on Broadway, Chicago, Illinois (Uptown). This has since been torn down for the renovation process on the Wilson Ave station.
I used ACDSee Ultimate 9.1 to adjust the lighting and boost contrast, saturation and vibrance.

Be sure to check out the video at youtu.be/gk79pikEKcQ Anyway we finally got a few nice days strung together which meant that we drone enthusiasts have little excuse but to get out there and fly. "The homeport has been updated. Please check it on the map. Takeoff.". And fly I did at North Avenue Beach. I saw another drone user out here today but silly me was in the car doing what I should have done last night; charging the battery. I would have loved to have shot this with another drone in my photo. Maybe next time...

There's construction just about everywhere you look downtown these days. Cranes, scaffolding, and hoist... ho hum. Now I know progress must go on but from a photographic standpoint... Damn; will it ever end?

The Avondale neighborhood became part of Chicago in 1894. It became a working class neighborhood of Polish, Scandanavian, and German immigrants through the first half of the 20th century. In the 1980's and 90's the Latino community expanded and is now as present as the Polish population. Many businesses boast Polish and Spanish languages spoken.
Also in the 1990's, Polish and Eastern Europeans came to Avondale and ushered in the height of the Polish presence.
I enjoyed several coffees in Columbian, Purvian, and Polish cafes. I've included two photos from my shoot.

Protesters took to the streets this morning to protest the shooting death of Laquan McDonald at the hands of former Chicago Police Officer, Jason Van Dyke. While I don't usually make such appearances, I did today because I wanted to see what this meant to Black Friday. I read a lot of the signs folks carried. The most memorable sign was carried by a little girl with her parents; it read "Make Better Choices". The protest was largely peaceful as news reports just three arrests. It's a sad event for all involved in Chicago. May the spirit of the season serve to heal those most affected.

I finally figured things out today. If I want rain then all I have to do is take a day off from work. Yes... I'm off from work tomorrow and the weather forecasters are calling for RAIN. Guess that means the drone is grounded yet another day. :-(
