Despite the fact that some of the tallest buildings in the world were constructed in its soil during the polluted 20th century, Chicago tries to keep some of its public land for wildlife. Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary, located between the beach and the harbor with the same name, is a place were birds like these ducks can rest with the certainty that humans around are there only to visit and take some pictures. This is a good example of how urban settlements can coexist with the environment.
